Every now and then someone will ask what is the history of the TNT clan. Most of this is going off my memory so some of it might not be right, but as this thread grows and members put in what they know it should be pretty close. Hopefully some of the founders of TNT will come across this and fill in the blanks.
2003 TNT (The New Testament) was formed by RJ, COPO and Bird Dawg. RJ and Copo were not happy about the way their clan was ran by the admins so they started up their own clan (cant remember what clan they came from but it was a well known clan). They used a dedicated server and ran a modded version of El Alamein (battlefield 1942). RJ was the one that made the mods
2003 When I joined RJ, COPO, Bird Dawg, Pineapple, Thumper, Wimpy2, Skitzo, Sky and Howlin Jack were already in the clan. I joined with Flash about 2-3 months after TNT was formed.
About a month later the founders of the clan left. Thumper decided to take over the clan and keep it going. He took over the server payments. We were down to about 6-8 members. We had to find another modder and we came across Superfuzz, A college student and an active person on the serverside modding forums. Superfuzz used his modding skills and further modded our El Alamein mod. Our server rose to the #1 rank. The clan grew, and our policy at the time was that you had to be a paying admin to join the clan. There were no such thing as a tnt member.. all admins. The server was populated 24/7 and many times an admin had to kick 4-6 players to be able to jump in the game. If you only kicked two players, two other players would jump in before you could. Sometime during this time period I was told by Thumper that I needed to create the website (before me Nunya had paid for a site that we used). I worked the website for a while as the clan grew gaining The Wall, ,Grenadier, Skullcrusher,Gadget, TedStriker, Demigod, Capstar and Sphinx. The Wall started helping out with the website. We had problems with one of the staff at our hosting company and changed our host to 1powerhost. The owner of 1powerhost was also a gamer and quickly became a sponsor by providing free hosting and creating a flash intro:
http://www.thetntclan.net/?pageid=oldtntintro
IN the intro you will see how the clan grew and a list of players that left the clan such as Drunken Killa, Nunya, Grapenut, Megadeath, Bunkerbuster, Apocalyse.
Some changes over the years,
We went from one leader: Thumper to a board that was made up of several senior admins, but this left a feeling of a split in the clan. We changed this to were all admins were equel and clan decisions were put up to a vote. BF2 came out and we were slow to switch but eventually made the switch. This caused a further split in the clan as some bought the game and some stayed with 1942.
We recruited a BF2 player name DaBigDog. He was into scrimmages etc, so to build up his team we changed the rules of the clan and started allowing members in the clan that were not admins. The tags were
while the admin tags were . That eventually changed to where all members and admins wore the same tags. Thats how we came to having members. DaBigDog left and we kept the members that wanted to stay.
1powerhost stopped sponsoring us sometime in 2007. Badcuda joined the admin ranks and became our next sponsor. He payed for the servers and ventrilo for a while and the admins no longer have to make monthly payments. Sometime in early 2009 Badcuda stopped sponsoring us after many paying for all the servers and the clan had to go back to relying on Admins and donations.
I'm sure there is a lot more and many people that were involved that also helped out. Hopefully this thread will continue with everyones input and with the current members.
